Councillor Mrs. Emma Crane represents Leam Valley Ward as a Conservative Councillor. She is a member of Cabinet as the portfolio holder for Communities and Homes.
Emma became a councillor for Leam Valley ward in 2015 and was appointed to the Rugby Borough Council cabinet in 2017 with responsibility for Homes and Communities. Emma lives in Grandborough with her family and works for an environmental charity. Emma loves getting out into the beautiful Leam Valley countryside and is committed to protecting our local wildlife and valued landscapes from inappropriate development. Standing up for Leam Valley in two long running campaigns Emma campaigned tirelessly alongside local residents to ensure that proposals for a 1,500 housing development on green field land at Lodge Farm were removed from Rugby's draft local plan. Emma also successfully opposed plans for an industrial pig farm that would have negatively impacted established local businesses, as well as causing environmental damage. The plans were rejected at an appeal earlier this year.
Emma set up and ran a small business and is keen to support rural enterprise by making sure the right infrastructure is in place to help businesses thrive. Emma worked with the Minister for broadband, MP Jeremy Wright and local agencies to expedite the roll out of superfast broadband to Leam Valley villages.
Emma's ward sits within Kenilworth and Southam constituency and is managed by K&S Conservative Association
